Dr. Rex A. Werner
Dr. Rex Werner has been practicing in San Diego since 1989. He is a graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry, and has worked with the Department of Public Health and the Veterans Administration as well as in private practice.
In addition to being able to treat refractive disorders, Dr. Rex is certified in the treatment and management of external eye diseases. He also works with Lasik eye surgeons who are the leading experts in their field. He does pre-operative evaluations, consults, and performs post-operative follow-ups teaming with the specialists to give his patients the best care possible. Having undergone Lasik surgery himself, Dr. Rex is able to explain firsthand the pros and cons of the procedure. He also fits all types of contact lenses, including toric, bifocal, and medically necessary soft and gas permeable lenses.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, San Diego Optometric Association, Lyons’ Vision Clinic, Boy Scouts of America, Kiwanis Club, and American Sand Association.
Dr. R. Aaron Werner
In 2008, Dr. Aaron followed his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather in becoming a doctor of optometry. He graduated from Valhalla High School and studied at San Diego State before earning his doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Aaron is passionate about helping others achieve their full potential. In addition to caring for patients at Werner Optometry, he serves as the Director OD of Learning and Development for Vision Source, North America’s premier network of private practice optometrists. His passion for working with children shows on the faces of all the young patients who see him.
Outside of the office, Dr. Aaron loves to hike, run, play soccer, and enjoy time with his wife, 3 children, and dogs.
Dr. Brittany McMurren
Dr. Brittany McMurren joined Werner Optometry in January 2017. In addition to offering comprehensive family eye care services, Dr. McMurren specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye disease. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience at Cedar Crest College, Dr. McMurren received her Doctor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. She is licensed to practice in California. During her graduate years, Dr. McMurren was trained in a variety of eye care fields, including pediatric vision development, anterior segment diseases, pre- and post-operative care for refractive surgery, complex contact lens fitting, sport vision therapy, keratoconus, and rehabilitation after traumatic brain injury.
