Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Werner Optometry a proud provider of vision care products and services in El Cajon.
Dr. Rex A. Werner
Dr. Rex Werner has been practicing in San Diego since 1989. He is a graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry, and has worked with the Department of Public Health and the Veterans Administration as well as in private practice.

He also works with Lasik eye surgeons who are the leading experts in their field. He does pre-operative evaluations, consults, and performs post-operative follow-ups teaming with the specialists to give his patients the best care possible. Having undergone Lasik surgery himself, Dr. Rex is able to explain firsthand the pros and cons of the procedure. He also fits all types of contact lenses, including toric, bifocal, and medically necessary soft and gas permeable lenses.
Dr. Rex is happily married with four children and enjoys the great outdoors.

Dr. R. Aaron Werner
Dr. Aaron is the newest member in a multi-generation legacy of optometrists. In 2008, he followed his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather in becoming a doctor of optometry.
A native of Rancho San Diego, Dr. Aaron enjoys living and working in this close-knit community. He graduated from Valhalla High School and studied at San Diego State before earning his doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry. His extensive training encompassed all aspects of optometric care including vision therapy.
His passion is working with children and it shows on the faces of all the young patients who see him. Dr. Aaron is fluent in Spanish and is available for appointments Monday through Friday.
Outside of the office, Dr. Aaron has a history of being involved with youth sports (wrestling, soccer, baseball, triathlons) and enjoys coaching his children’s teams. He is also an avid runner and triathlete, so feel free to honk and wave hi if you see him running or bicycling along the road.
Our staff is thoroughly trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of the optical field.
They strive to ensure that your experience with us is a positive one.
