Passing Birthdays Does Not Mean Changing The Way You Do The Things You Love!
Getting older doesn’t need to mean changing the way you do the things you love.
At Werner Optometry, our mission is to provide the best in personalized eye care at every stage of life, especially as age-related risks become involved. Here are 3 important ways to manage aging vision:
Know The Risks
Approximately 10 percent of people age 40 and over are living with a significant age-related eye condition. Early detection is crucial to managing diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Take these essential steps to stay ahead of dangers to your vision:
- Have an annual dilated eye exam.
- Research your family medical history—many vision diseases are hereditary.
- Don’t ignore warning signs like blurred vision, eye pain, vision loss, or acute sensitivity to light.
Know What Tools Can Help
Along with medication and surgery, there are handheld magnifiers, specialized eyewear, and text-to-speech programs, just to name a few. We can help you find tools and techniques that you probably never thought of.
We pride ourselves in staying in front of the technological curve. We are able to offer the latest in testing and detection for our patients.

Know Your Community Resources
Don’t overlook all the great ways the El Cajon community provides for our seniors. For those living with eye conditions, these resources can be keys to increased independence and quality of life.
We have 3 standing appointments weekly for the Lions Club to schedule patients who need eye exams but cannot afford it. Glasses are provided by the Lions Club at little or no cost. Additionally, if any patients are in need of continuous eye care our office makes sure the patients receive that care.
Living Fully with Aging Vision
With proactive care and disease management, low vision doesn’t have to limit your life! We pride ourselves on being a lifelong vision health partner for people in El Cajon. Talk to us about building a personalized vision care plan. We’ll be there every step of the way.
